Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Posted Wed, 12/05/2007 - 00:31 by aburdGarth Marenghi's Darkplace is a weird British television show that aired in 2004. Each episode features scenes from fake-horror writer Garth Marenghi's show "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" along with interviews about the making of the show. While the fake-show is great, the commentary interviews are even better. They are filled with lines like:
Now I don't know whether someone close to Garth had exploded - whether it was a colleague or a pet - but you could tell that scene meant a lot to him. There were tears on set. Not from Garth. He was strong for the crew. But I wept. I'm not ashamed of that.
While there are only 6 episodes, each one is packed with hilarity. It looks like they filmed the show on film that's been sitting around since the 80s which gives it a wonderful cheesey feeling. It's brilliant like Spinal Tap. If you want to check it out here is a streaming copy of the first episode.
