Software Development job - Asheville NC

What's up folks? I am working at a technical staffing agency now as a recruiter and I am in search of a Jr level software development person for a job in Asheville, NC. I know you guys have some background and interest in this type of work and thought I'd pass along the information. Here are some of the details on this job:

Our client has an immediate opening for a Software Developer to design, implement, test, maintain and support software applications. Successful candidates should have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures for software development. This position relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Will assist with IT Help Desk requests as necessary and participate in the IT on-call rotation.

This position will report to the Software Development Supervisor. Works closely with other software development staff and immediate supervisors. Collaborates with project managers and subject-matter experts in other departments to resolve questions and problems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Develop and maintain software under the direction and oversight of the software development supervisor.
2. Respond to requests for support when requested by the MIS organization, with the approval and support of an immediate supervisor.
3. Participates in departmental activities and contributes to collaborative design and implementation decision-making efforts.
4. Meets assigned deadlines and objectives.

Education: BS/CS degree or a BS degree in an equivalent field (e.g. mathematics or engineering)

Experience: One year or more of in-industry object-oriented programming for multi-tier systems. Two or more years of experience using Java and SQL. Knowledge of J2EE, Swing, HTML and Javascript.

Skills: Good overall communication and organization skills. Adept at logic. Can relate complex concepts and ideas in simple terms, to non-technical personnel.
