A nice January day

There's a greenway across the street from my house. This is the view a few miles down that path earlier today...

The greenway is actually a reclaimed railroad bed, which means it's nearly completely straight and flat—not that flat is in short supply here. This particular section is covered in large gravel (hell on my wrists but thank jeebus for padded shorts), presumably to keep the raised surface from flowing back into the marsh after a few hard rains. The rest of the greenway is mostly sandy, and my bike was crying out for a good hosing off when I got back home.

What is that hunk of water considered?

It isn't the ocean and it isn't a lake and it isn't a river. What it is? Awesome pictures, btw.

It's a marsh

A coastal marsh, maybe? I'm not sure. Anyway, it's all over the place down here, which is cool right now, but come summertime it'll be mosquito city.

Here is the Google Maps view of the bridge where those photos were taken.
